This beautiful burnt reddish orange/red sponge coral is wire wrapped with an antiqued copper wires. Red sponge coral has an sponge like appearance due to the tiny holes which cover its own surface. Coral is produced by small sea creatures called polyps. These samm holes close in other forms of coral after the Polyps vacant, but in sponge coral they stay open.
